Dosen Jurusan Bahasa Inggris, Fakultas Sastra, Universitas Kristen Maranatha Bandung
This study reveals the university students’ response on how much Sundanese culture exposure they get in their daily life, both in and outside the classroom. It is interesting to know the reasons why the students, presumably most of them, prefer Western culture than the local culture, although they live in Bandung. The data were obtained from 50 Bandungnese university students through questionnaire. The findings are used to find the reasons why the university students prefer Western culture than Sundanese culture, and what strategies that university lecturers can use in implementing Sundanese culture in teaching and learning process. Results from the study provide strategies for university lecturers in introducing and providing more exposure to Sundanese culture to their students in the classroom; therefore, students will be more aware of their own local culture and hopefully their fondness of Sundanese culture will increase remarkably.
